How can i get the "Create Linked Issue" button back?

Hello Atlassian Community,

We are having a problem with the new Jira.

There is no longer this feature to create a linked issue (i have circled it in yellow).

I have looked at numerous QA's and tickets to get that ability back, but i have not succeeded.

Please advise me on how i can at least get the similar functionality back without having to create a sub-task, or another issue, then go back to the old issue i was working on and click "link issue" and then choose "relates to".

Yes, i have tried using the "link issue" button, but i cannot create a linked issue. I can only link existing issues, then i have to go back and link it together.

I appreciate any help. Thank you!

You need to work with the Admin to get you the permission. In the permission scheme you need access to the "Link Issue" permission.

Okay, i am an admin already. What should i do ?

This is what my permissions screen looks like.

I still can't create linked issues.

Do you know what to do next?

How to turn on Issue linking in the newer version of Jira?

do you see the edit permission option:

Yes, i see it

great. Just click on it an then once the page loads click on edit next to the permission:

The following dialogue will show up where you can give the permission to groups or individuals:

I've done that and still no success. I wonder if it matters that i have the newer version of Jira

can you share a screen shot of the changes?

Would you like a screenshot of the permissions or what a sample issue looks like?

Also, how do i remove this Permission "

  • Group (Anyone, including non-registered and anonymous users)

next to edit you will see the remove option to modify the option. Remove all of them and just leave:

Application access (Any logged in user)

and try again.

I still can't create linked issues straight from the ticket

oh i missed asking this question (this should have been the first question). Is this a software Project? If yes, then this feature is not available.  here is the link for the issue: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWSERVER-13625

If its not a software project, can you check if the issue linking is turned on:

Okay...

It appears in the new view for Service Desk the 'Create linked issue' is not available on the issue or in the project settings as before.

This is a huuuuuge disappointment.

yeah, there was no reason to remove it.
