2024-04-12 12:19:53,042 ERROR - Unexpected failure occurred. Importer will stop immediately. Data may be in an unstable state: Cannot perform import due to 1 invalid usernames

Hi Hugh - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Are you trying to import values into a user field? If so, are you using the email address of the user?
