Hi Brainthrust,

How can you copy fix version from one subtask to all other subtasks and parent?

Hi @Jacob Kock Plinius

You may do this copy in one rule, with two branches: one to the parent issue followed by one to the sibling subtasks (using JQL to find subtasks which have the same parent as the trigger issue).

I encourage you to try to create the rule; that will help confirm it does what you need and improve your learning about rules.  If you run into problems, please post an image of your complete rule, the audit log details, and explain what is not working as you expected.

To get you started on creating your rule, please refer to these documentation and example sources:

Kind regards,
Bill

Hi @Jacob Kock Plinius

Instead of  copying the same subtask version to all other subtasks and their parent, you can efficiently update the fix version for all the subtasks and their parents simultaneously. The bulk edit option allows us to assign a fix version to multiple subtasks and their parent in one go. To do this, navigate to the issue navigator, pull the relevant issues, then use the bulk edit feature to assign a fix version to every subtask and its parent.

Here are the steps:

Navigate to Bulk option

Choose issues

Select operations

Edit issues

Set fix version

Confirm

By following these steps, we can  update the fix version for all mentioned issues at once.
Thank you.

This would be manual though. I am looking at an automation.

Hello, Good day. You can explore automation rules to copy the values. Might require two different rules. One to copy the value from sub-task to parent and second to copy the value from parent to all sub-task. You can explore different available templates
