Filter unable to retrieve custom field

I've been using custom fields to create filters in the past, but recently, when I tried to use the same for new projects, the filter cannot extract the issues I needed.

 

I have checked the custom field settings, permission settings and screen configuration ( all of these settings are the same for other projects used in the past - for which filters are working correctly)

Note: while filtering, if I select multiple choices in my custom field - then I can see the issue, if I just have one choice selected then I don't see anything.

Any suggestions on what might be causing the issues.
