I have defined a screen and set only the fields that I want. However, when I go to the Issues layout, I see fields that I didn't select for that screen. On the screen itself, the fields are also there.
In addition, I have fields that are in the Issue Layout but aren't being shown on the screen.
Hey Lee - If I understand things correctly, The Issue Layout applies to the Context available for that particular custom field. You can see that by going to Settings > Issues > Custom fields
Then search for the field and click the 3 dots menu on the right.
Select Context and Default values.
So if a field has a context of multiple projects and issue types, then it will show up on the Issue Layout configuration for that project and issue type. That just means they are available for any screen that might be attached to the project.
The Screen itself will control whether the field shows on the screen or not as there might be multiple screens - Edit Screen, Create Screen, View Screen.
I have this same problem. I want to remove 'story points' from all epic screens in a particular project. However even though story points is not listed as a field in any screen configuration, it still appears. The only way for me to remove was to create a new custom field context just for that project and select the types I did want. Not very intuitive and was hoping to manage it solely via screens
