External System Import -> Import from Github

Todd Flynn May 11, 2015

While following the steps to import my teams existing Github issues I'm getting stuck while trying to map the repositories to projects. Specifically, I'm landing on a page that says I need to decide if I'm going to map them to existing projects or new ones, but there's no functionality to allow me to do that. This is all I'm getting:

JIRA will import your Github repositories and convert them to projects. You need to select whether you map the repository to an existing project or create a new project.

I've authenticated successfully so that doesn't seem to be the issue.

I'm sure I've missed something obvious.... anyone able to point out what it is?

There might be several documents floating around, we should verify that steps 1-10 were followed exactly as per:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRACLOUD/Importing+Data+from+Github

Note:

All GitHub projects are initially set to "Don't import this project". To import a repository, you must either select an existing compatible project to import the data to, or create a new project."

Finally, is the log revealing anything useful?

Thanks Jason.

The issue actually related to the authentication step. I was using my github username & password and for some reason that was preventing the next step in the process. I generated a user access token and used that instead and it worked. Once I authenticated using that I was able to complete the import.
