Expand Search Responses to Include Components and Versions

Christopher Kelley January 13, 2020

By default, JIRA will return Projects and Issues in a general search. I want to also have it respond with matching Components and Versions.

Can this be enabled?

Hello @Christopher Kelley

Thank you for reaching out.

I understand that you would like to search for components and versions that match the parameters described in a JQL filter of the issue navigator. Is that correct?

The JQL search of the Jira application was developed to return only issues based on the parameters of the filter, not any other elements.

What you can do is search for issues with a specific component or versions, like this:

Component = testcomponent and version = testversion

Also, you can search for components and versions that match a certain text on their names, by navigating to Components or Versions menus and typing the text in the search bar:

No. That is not what I am saying.

Global search needs to include all data and classification of objects in the data model. Not merely issues and projects.
