Exists a setting to use a drop down list for time tracking?

Time tracking for tasks, subtasks, etc. with a possibility to define reasons/activities leading to the tracked time. The time tracking person shall only be able to choose one of the predefined reasons out of the drop down/listbox and additionally track its time spent for the task or activity.

Or is it only possible with other apps or add-ons?

In stock Jira you can only add comments to a worklog, no single select or any other field can be used for worklogs. There is a popular feature request for this.

There are marketplace apps that provides this functionality in addition to many other time tracking related features, mainly timesheets. Our app, WorklogPRO is one of them. Here is a link to worklog attributes section for more information.
