Dear all,

We are using for years Jira datacenter connected to Azure SQL service database.

The lastest version that microsoft provide as a SAS version of SQL server is 2014 ( wit a compatibility level to 2017/2019

When driving an upgrade to jira 8.12, we notice that we get a heathcheck error mentionning that SQL server 2014 is not supported anymore.

Ok then as we do not have access to the deployed version of Microsoft SQL server,  we are stuck in a way we are not able to upgrade our all worldwild system for our customers.

Does anyone here are in same configuration as us using SQL sas ?

If yes what will be your solution to move forward if any?

regards

Hi Serge,

the SQL server 2014 is unsupported with Jira 8.12 - like you wrote. It was deprecated (thus not recommended for use previously).

There is a recent post in Community which tells basically the same. The requirement would be to upgrade the database host, if possible.

There is the option to take a XML backup and import it onto a new database architecture (for example if you consider start using MySQL or PostgreSQL) but I would not recommend this approach in your case.

The probably best option would be to talk to the person who is in control and in charge of your Microsoft SQL Server and to ask where to start from here considering your requirement of upgrading Jira.

Cheers,
Daniel
