Disable click to edit

Deleted user February 10, 2019

I am new to Jira and am using version e06b9f80

When I view an issue, if I double click on the text on the issue body Jira will put me in to some "edit" mode.

I'd like for this not to happen and I can't find how to turn this off.

Please help.

There is now way to downgrade the Jira Cloud options to do this.

Might we ask why this is a problem for you?  The function is designed to make things easier for your users, so Atlassian would like to know why it is a bad thing!

I found this double click edit feature really annoying too. Looks like this feature is more oriented who is creating/editing the task, call it the manager, product owner, scrum master, whoever you want, but for developers only we want to copy/paste the content and to do this we have to use double click to select the whole word before copy.

To be honest I never seen this feature in another place, so why it is here? There will be good to have a setting to disable this.

Also it should be possible to keep both features. In any copy/text the expected result if you double click it has to be selected. Probably it will be good keeping editing as well selecting the word on editing mode (actually is not doing that)

It is a terrible, counter intuitive action. A mouse click should select what it clicks. Why would you change the behaviour of the most fundamental UI interaction to something that is non standard? In all other software I have ever used, anything other than the standard action is only activated by using the ctrl or alt in conjunction with the click.

This function was designed poorly, for my use case.

As I developer, I never edit somebody else's issues, but I select text to copy.

With long issue messages, it is especially painful, because the whole page redraws (slowly, because it has tens of images)

I just want to repeat what others have said. I have used jira for 2 years now, and still I hate this feature. Please add an option

Most people like the inline edits, and in fact Atlassian are making it the only way to edit in some places, so the option to turn it off has to be removed.
