Different Project Types

We are beginning to use Jira to track tasks for our hardware team. In project type I am able to get two types, Software or Business. Is there a way to add Hardware to that list?

By default Jira Software provides Software and Business project types and there is project category option which helps to categories the project across related projects in one place.

depending on your requirements consider using project Category for this. You could denote: SW, HW, Business, etc.

You would need to write a new Jira "application" to provide a new class of project type.  Business projects are provided by Jira Core, Software projects by Jira Software, and Service Desks by Jira Service Desk.

However, you can write apps that can add project types within those three categories (although I'd recommend not bothering for Service Desk, they're a pain to write for)
