Data update from parent to child

VENKATESHWARARAO July 4, 2024

I'd like to explore an option of updating the data at epic level from the parent capability level. This is only for epics that have no value in respective fields.

E.g. Custom field name "Test" of type multiselect set at Capability level, there are 10 child epics, 5 have no value in the child. can we populate those 5 with the value that's available at Capability level. Can we achieve this using automation or scriptrunner for Jira.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Venkat

Hi @VENKATESHWARARAO ,

Of course, you can easily achieve this with an Automation of Jira automation rule.

Below is an image of how to do this:

I hope you find it helpful, best regards!

Hi @Adrián García González

Thanks for your assistance!

We required to copy the values from Capabilty(Parent) ---> Epic only once. No automation is required. How can we configure automation rules run on specific time.

Thank you!

Venkat

Understood, you can try to use a Scheduled trigger. But the rule will require you to make adjustments to make it work.

Best Regards!
