I am interested in tracking institutions (where inquires are coming from) as part of our issue log. Is there a way to create a custom field to include this information in the form when creating an issue? If so, how can that be done?
Also, we would be interested in reporting on this information. Would it be possible to run a report on a custom field?
You can always run reports on custom fields as long as you create them with a "searcher" (the default is to do this, so you need not worry about it generally)
To get it in there, it's a bit different - if you're creating JIRA issues, then it's a doddle, you add the field to the "create" screen. For Service Desk, it's less so - the interface is simplified down to avoid the users having to do that sort of thing.
