Custom field names truncating rather than wrapping when displayed

John Lyne September 13, 2012

We have just installed JIRA 5.1.3 and have noiced that long field names (greater than about 15 characters) are truncatng rather than wrapping, when displayed in View mode.
Has any one else noticed this.

we upgraded from 5.0.5 and I couldn't find any direct references in the release notes for all the intermediate upgrades than may highlight this change in the display process as a feature.

not sure if this is a bug or a new feature that we can adjust.

any feedback appreciated

Johno

Have had no feeback from Atlassian, so have determined that this feature is "by design" for inline editing.

Will disable this feature as it is of little value in our environment.

ways i know are not easy at all: the first way is to insert powerfull javascript in description of this field. The other way is to create customfield plugin. if I'm not wrong, there're ways to set width of this field

further investigations have found that this "feature" appears when the "inline edit" general configuration option is turned on.

am still unsure if this is by design, or an "undocumented feature"

will ask Atlaasian if this feature is by design.
