Create a new task triggered by a comment and automatically linked to the story

Sari May 13, 2022

Hello!

I would like to create an automation rule, so that, when I create a story in my board (FL2), a comment in the story trigger the creation of a task in another board (iOS), but It is also automatically linked to that story.

Story + comment in FL2 board -----> iOS task (in "new state") ----> automatically linked to the story

I think that more or less I am able to create the rule till the first part (please, check the picture attached), but then I have no idea how to continue in order to have the task linked to the story.

Could you please help me? :)

Thank you very much!

Hi @Sari ,

In Automation for Jira you have the action "Link issues".
With this issue you can link the created issue to the trigger issue.

Hi @Marco Brundel

Thanks for your quick reply!

I tried your suggestion, but the rule doesn't work1.png2.png

You can see my automation rule above and then, although I have commented a story, there was no task created in the iOS board linked to the story.
Maybe is It about the order of the conditions set in the rule?
Thanks

Hi @Sari ,

Is the task not created or is the task not linked to the issue?

What's in the audit log? Are there errors in this?

If the link is not made, I recommend adding a branch "For Most recently created issue".
