Connecting Jira Software to MySQL

Hi, 

I have installed Jira Software 7.7.1 to Ubuntu 16.04 (fresh droplet form Digital Ocean). 

I have dropped the mysql-connector-java-5.1.45-bin.jar to /opt/atlassian/jira/lib also.

I have my MySQL 5.7 on another droplet with different IP.  (fresh droplet)

When I put all the details on Own Database, it showed connection successful.

When I click NEXT, it crashes.  I tried to clear cache and start Jira service again.  It will load and crashes again when setting up the connection between the Database and Jira.

I know it is something to do with the MySQL Database that has not configured properly.

I followed the instruction on this site:

.... but is there anything I am missing?  I have tried many times installing it in case I did something wrong but i still get the same error.

A beginner here.  Could anyone point me to the right direction.

Hi Charlotte,

Sorry to hear there are problems with connecting to the database.  But in order to help here I think we're going to need to see some logs from your installation, and our community site can struggle when it comes to file attachments.

Please see that request and if you can send us those logs I will take a look.
