Could you please specify which all directories carry's the additional non operational files which can be deleted to reduce the disk usage.
My instance is consuming more space and I can find alot of disk space has been consumed by /jira/temp and /jira/logs/
Would it be fine to delete few old files directly from the OS ?
Would deleting any thing from these directories affect the audit logs ?
The file names in the directories
/jira/logs --> access_log.YYYY-MM-DD and catalina.YYYY-MM-DD.log
/jira/temp/ --> JIRA-avatar*.tmp, plugin.*.obr, imageio*.tmp
is it ok to delete these files from the mentioned directorties ?
The places to look for recovering disk space are
It is find to delete any export file, as long as you are sure you don't need the backup it is providing.
In the two log directories, you can delete all the files, but if you want to delete the very latest version of each log, make sure you stop Jira, or they can stop logging, and you need to restart to get it going again.
In the temp and work directories, do NOT delete anything while Jira is running. It must be stopped or you can get some "interesting" problems. If you do insist on clearing them, also only clear files out of /work - do NOT delete any directories.
Updated the question. Provided the files names pattern for better clarity.

@Mohit DhirBe careful when you delete any file that you are not aware of, but very old logs file (for instance 1 year old do no harm) and make sure that these files are not used by the operating system as you said!
best!
