Changing a Status in new workflow affects already existing workflow statuses

I have started making a new workflow. I wanna edit the Open status with To Do. I find the following error: "This status is used in other workflows, editing it will affect them." Why it's gonna effect the already existing workflow status? In another case, I changed a status in copy of workflow but it is changed in the original workflow as well. Both are inactive workflows.

Hello,

That is right Statuses are global. One status can be used in multiple workflows. If you change the name of the status, it will be changed in all workflows and that is your case.
