Change custom field status to another status only if the field status is not somthing

Guys,

Created a custom field named 'Went back' and in the transitions I change its status with post function to 'Went back'.

Now, if the issue is closed (Done) and the 'Went back' field is clear it means that it moved only forward in the process. In these cases I want to change it's status to 'Great job'

How can I do that in JQL?

I wish to write JQL in the last transition (to DONE) but I don't know how to write the condition.

Ok. This is naturally done with rules (under automation) and not with JQL

JQL is for finding issues, not updating them.

I am sorry, but I am struggling to understand what you are saying here - the word "status" seems to be being used to say two different things, and I cannot quite see what the intention is.  When you say "custom field status", do you mean the status of the issue, or the value of the custom field?  (value, not status)

Yes Nic, you are right.

I am new to Jira so I ask alot of stupid questions.

I managed to perform this with automation. Created a rule which does that.

Thanks for reaching out
