Hi there,
A couple of questions:
1. Is it possible to change the issue type, without using the "Move" option?
I created two tasks, one after the other, on the same board, with the default workflow (made no changes to it).
I wanted to change the issue type of one of those to become a subtask, but when I click on the Issue Type icon, I don't have the option of choosing the Subtask issue.
2. If not, does anyone know why is this not possible?
It seems as though it's quite logical, to simply choose a different issue type.
Even if there is a restriction that the Subtask issue type cannot exist without there being a Parent task, that would only mean that unless there is at least one more ticket than the one you just created or you are in the process of creating, you simply cannot create a Subtask - but in any other instance, I don't see why this would be an issue (I might be mistaken)?
Thank you!
Hi @Vega IT , assuming the underlying workflows are the same then you can change the type without "moving". Click on the type icon in the detailed issue view. Depending on your type configuration between the two type you may be prompted to make decisions, e.g if the current issue status does not exist in the new type's workflow.
Hi @Vega IT ,
Welcome to the community !!
If there exists sub-task issue type in the project and you have the permission to create ticket, you will see sub-task listed when you click on Issue type Icon.

Hey @Vega IT
You can always change the issue type in 2 ways through the ... then Move, or by clicking the issue type icon towards the top of the screen (above the Summary, next to the issue number).
Subtasks are a different kind of ticket that cannot exist without a parent, but note that you must have Subtask as an issue type in the project - see here for adding them: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/add-edit-and-delete-an-issue-type/
