Cannot change User avatar

When opening an userprofile and clicking on the avatar to change it nothing happens, capturing network requests and javascript actions also shows no action. There is absolutely nothing happening.

Switching to the Test Sessions tab an back to the summary, then clicking on the avatar darkens the screen and shows a jquery loading circle, after that nothing happens.

In the second case the javascript console reports:

Jira version is 5.0.6

(i) There is no difference wheather I try this as admin, or as the user the avatar should be changed for.

The problem was caused by an outdated plugin which I overlooked because of https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/68867/the-upm-says-the-atlassian-marketplace-server-is-not-reachable-but-atlassian-hosts-are-reachable-from-the-server
