@Kate Engel , Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Yeah, you can view Business Project issues in a Software Scrum Board. What you need to do to have this, is create a filter in your Jira with your Business Issues and then go to your scrum board and swich the filter.
In this case, your scrum board will display issues from your filter who brings issues from your business project.
Hope this helps.

Hi @Kate Engel
Welcome to the community!
To answer your question, yes there is a way to show the business project issues in software project scrum board.
Every board has the underlying filter by which board shows the issues.
We need to edit the filter to include those project issues which are to be seen on the board and add the sprint value if you need to track it via sprints
Let me know in case of any further questions
Thanks

Thanks so much for the information @Pramodh M . I was able to create a filter that picked up the issues in the business project, however when I applied that filter to the Scrum Board in the Software project, I could not see the issues in either backlog or active sprint.
Do both projects need to be Company-Managed?

It is regardless of type of project, you should be able to see the issues
Can you check the column mapping on the board?

Thanks again Pramodh. Yep, the mappings are aligned.
I did a bit of a test - it seems that if both projects are company-managed projects, I can see the stories from the business project on the software project Scrum board.
Thanks again for all your help.
