Can the workflow numbers be removed from the work log on tickets?

Can the workflow numbers be removed from the work log on tickets?

Please see the image I have attached

Next to each step where it shows a workflow change, there is a corresponding number assigned to each step in the workflow.

Is there any way to hide these [XXX] from the workflow steps of the issue view screen? It's confusing some of the users.

This is not possible

You don't want to lose them either - the IDs are the important part of the history. If someone renames something, your history could become useless without the ID.
