Can I have a component be automatically assign once a person is assigned to a ticket?

I want to be able to assign a ticket to a person and then have JIRA automatically assign the component afterwards of my choosing. I would set the mapping for the assignee to component ratio beforehand. I don't know if this is even possible and if it is what would be the process to do it.

You'd have to use scripts and they aren't available in the cloud

There's out-of-the box methods to accomplish the opposite – Set a component and then autoassign.
