Call Center for Jira

Jorge Jerez May 21, 2019

I would like to know if anyone know a good Plugin or APP to conect Jira with an Asterik server using FreePBX.

What we want to do is create issues when a call is done, and make calls from Jira using a custom field or something similar.

Hey Jorge,

I'm only aware of a couple plugins on the marketplace that have call features:

  • CallCenter for Jira Service Desk is intended for incoming requests. A user/customer would dial your help center's phone number, and an over-the-phone wizard would help them create a new issue. It looks like on the backend they use Twilio as a provider.
  • 8x8 ContactNow for Jira is closer to what you're looking for (lets you make calls from Jira) and keeps call details available in the ticket. It looks like it's bound to 8x8's phone service though and probably won't integrate with your Asterisk server.

Outside of Jira-specific solutions, you might be interested in having click-to-call set up in your browser. The general idea is to make phone numbers on web pages (like a customer's info in a Jira ticket for example) into links that trigger phone calls. There are a few Chrome extensions like this one that will trigger a PBX call from a phone number on a webpage.

Hope that helps point you in a direction that will meet your needs!

Cheers,
Daniel
