Hi,
I have just discovered that one of my users has created a board in Jira and made themselves the location. The way we usually do things is that the project would be the location. Never seen this before. What are the pros and cons regarding this? thanks.
Please take a look at the answer here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/What-is-the-function-of-the-new-Location-field-in-the-JIRA-board/qaq-p/643737
This location field just determines where else this board might appear in Jira. For example if you choose to associate it with a specific project, then when you navigate to that project landing page, you can then see which boards are paired to this project.
If you set this location field to be your profile, then this board would not appear on this project view.
One of the cons, with this newer way in the Cloud, is that a location of a board can now be on a person. Well, people come and go so it is maybe not the best place to have the location of a board on a person (user).
A pro is that you can now create a Kanban or Scrum board for a Jira Service Management project :)
HTH,
