BIRT Report form a JIRA REST API

I need to create BIRT Report form a JIRA REST API , without using the sql plugin in my jira ,

is there anyway to d that , by using scripted data sources in eclipse ?

Why not the SQL+JQL plugin?

Anyway, our Eclipse BIRT for Jira app claims to be a pure Eclipse BIRT instance running right within Jira, so you can create scripted data sources to access to the Jira REST API, of course.
