Automation rule to update custom date field

Shireesha Baddam
March 31, 2021

Hello everyone ,

I have created a custom date field and I want that field to be updated with the version release date. Please let me know if that's achievable using automation in Jira.

Thank you!!

Hi @Shireesha Baddam

It is possible using {{issue.fixVersions.releaseDate}}

You can read more about it in the documentation

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/smart-values-general/

Thank you for pointing me to that @Nir Haimov . I have set a rule like below but I see there are errors with parsing the date. Am I missing something here?

Hi @Shireesha Baddam

That's right, in the documentation i sent you there is another topic for handling dates:
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/smart-values-date-and-time-functions/

So, all you should do is like this: {{issue.fixVersions.releaseDate.jiraDate}}

Thanks @Nir Haimov . That worked
