Hi everyone!
I've learned the basic info about automation + have created some rules and it is working great.
I am interested in app Automation for Jira.
What is the goal of the app? It has the same option for creating rules, just easiest way to create it, is it so?
+ Is there any risk to adding the app? + Create the rules and then get some limitations on the app. I don't want to take risks with my projects. And recreate all the rules without the app.
Could you help me with it?
I think it would be cool to ask you before starting the detail integration to the project via app automation-for-jira.
Hi @Max ,
Automation for Jira used to be an app for Jira Server / DC.
Since then, Atlassian has integrated it in their products.
I see you are on cloud, and viewing your screenshot you already started playing around with it, good on you! So good news, you are already using the "app".
I notice you are on a free plan, be aware that you can onlry use 100 automation rule runs per month on the plan, so make sure to use the rules sparingly.

@Tessa Tuteleers hi!
Thank you for the answer! I appreciate it!
I have just asked about the differences between the Jira Server and Jira Cloud.
It seems like I've missed some basic understanding of the Jira product.
It would be great to get in short your vision.... describe pls the cases of using the Jira Server and Jira Cloud. I really don't get the differences.

Hi Max,
Atlassian has an on-premise version (DataCenter and up until recently server) that you can host yourself, and a SAAS version (Cloud).
In the cloud version, the automation app is pre-packaged, and more powerfull then the version on the on-premise Atlassian product.
Since you are using Atlassian Cloud, there is no need / way for you to install the app at all.
Hope this helps!

It helps a loooot ^_^
thank you!
So in fact I can install the app but I don't get any additional options and I don't see the app on my Cloud Jira, is that so?
I am just asking ^_^

On your Cloud instance it is not even available for install, so you can't install it. But you already have the options available so no worries there.
Have fun automating!

Hi @Max , automation for Jira is built in to Jira cloud. So that is what you're already using. The app is for server only.

@Jack Brickey I am sure my next question is weird ... let's name it so ^_^
But I think I don't get the differences here.
I am using the Jira cloud, according to your previous comment.
But "server only" case ... could you describe the differences with the examples pls (from the practical point of view).
I really don't get the case when I should install the Automation app.
It would be great to get some info in short.
I am sorry for this question, but I can't just skip it here ^_^

@Jack Brickey I've understood the differences. So you can ignore my question ^_^
Thank you for your reply though.
