I'm using the Jira Cloud App in Slack and want to be able to add a slack message as a comment on a JIRA issue without having to copy paste.
I have the Jira cloud app installed and it seems to be working. When I try adding a slack message to a specific issue, I get a successful confirmation message in slack, but the comment never shows up in JIRA.
Hi @Joseph , welcome to the Community!
When adding messages from Slack to a Jira issue, they do not act as Jira comments like you may expect. Instead, they are attached through the app activity in the right sidebar:
When you open the info for the Slack app here, you see any messages attached, who attached them, and a link back to the specific message in Slack (via the icon in the upper right of the message) so you can see it in context of the conversation.
Cheers,
Daniel
Ah yep, you're right. I am seeing the slack comments show up on the right sidebar.
I hoped it would appear in-line with comments that are entered via JIRA. Sometimes a comment/update happens in slack, other times it happens directly in JIRA. If both types of comments could be viewed within a single screen/feed, then it would save time to use the app connecting Slack and Jira. Since it takes a few extra clicks to get to the Slack comments, I feel like either the slack comments will get missed, or add an extra "check right sidebar for slack comments" step every time someone opens a ticket.
I think we'll just stick with copy pasting across relevant comments from slack
Thank you for taking the time to answer!
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Will also mention that if you find your team having conversations about issues in both Jira and Slack, Halp might be a solution that bridges the gap or helps solve tickets faster in Slack.

Hi @Joseph
Welcome to community! I would recommend checking out previous posts on this topic: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Software-questions/Jira-Cloud-for-Slack-is-not-responding-to-every-user/qaq-p/1632518
Some things to check are if users in slack are the same in Jira as well as the project level permissions. There are project specific permissions for Slack, so you may not be granted that permission in Jira.
Best,
Clark
