Adding a Custom Field for Components

We would want to insert some information in the component level, which can be used for search and reposts. Can I add custom fields to Components?

Hi Ruki, you can't add a custom field into the component field. However you can use add a multi select or multi checkboxes custom field as a replacement to show the information. However, there are no auto complete feature which has been raised as an improvement in our tracking system: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-23013

Otherwise, you may want to create your own custom field type with some development: https://developer.atlassian.com/display/JIRADEV/How+to+create+a+new+Custom+Field+Type

Hello,

I have the same problem: I'm looking for a way to add additional custom fields to a component. These custom fields should appear in the list view for searching issues.

But I don't understand your proposed solution: what do you mean with the multi select field. How does it work? Do you have an example?
