Added New status in the workflow and not published but it has impacted all other projects .

agoutham July 3, 2024

For example, every issue that was assigned the status of "Todo", now has the status of "Back Log", across every active project (about 60 projects). Unfortunately, they don't recall what they did to get to that point and I can not figure out how to undo this. Note the issues are actually assigned the status, it's not just an additional status.

Hi @agoutham

I suspect they changed the name of the status, instead of inserting a new status. If you’re not familiar with how the workflows work well that’s easy to make that mistake. Instead of sticking in a new status with what you want, you simply change the name of the status that’s already there.

But what happens is it immediately changes the name everywhere as it’s a shared status. That should be easy enough to check.

Hi @agoutham

I would start by checking the audit log  https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/audit-activities-in-jira-applications/ to verify if the workflow was actually changed, if this wasn't then it is mostly a status change and as per the documentation this is not tracked in the audit logs 🥲.

Hi @agoutham ,

Yes someone probably changed the status name via the workflow editor, I have seen this a lot unfortunately. An admin does not even have to publish the workflow for the status change to happen (see screenshot)

You can check the audit log (cog> system> audit log) to see if and when the status changed name.

Rectify this through editing the status back to what it was, either via a workflow or via the status lists. (cog> issues > statuses)

best regards

Lisa
