Add a Story template to project without using apps?

I would like to add some standard template text (ideally in the description field) to Story type items for our project.

I do not want to use a marketplace app and I'd rather not use automations/change workflow.

How can default text be added to this field please?

You can try setting the value using automation rules. 

When "Issue Created" trigger 

IF : Field Condition as Issue Type: Story

Then Action: Edit Issue> Description and set the value as required.
