API token for JIRA bot

Kathy Gryta December 19, 2019

We are working on setting up an automation to use the API to create a sub-task when a specific type of task transitions to In Progress - is there some way to either

1.  Create a JIRA-bot user and use the API token for that user to create the sub-task  OR

2. is there some syntax to instruct the API call to use the currently logged-in user to create the subtask?

(sorry - for use with JIRA Cloud)

You should try the Automation for Jira family of apps. If you are lucky, those will solve this without any programming.

You don't have to do #1, as long as your account can access the ticket, just use your account to generate the API keys.
