A timeline that will insert date and timestamp for each indivdual event

Currently we are just using the description field. But we are looking to replace it with a timeline that will date and timestamp each individual event.

ex of timeline today:
Issue XYZ
We did this research
We contacted dave
Bob joined the call

What we are looking for is when each line item is added or when the user hits enter it automatically timestamp that entry

5/19 13:50 We contacted Dave
5/19 14:00 Bob joined the call

Jira logs all changes into the issue history, with a date and time. Is there something missing from that?
