Greetings Jira Community,
As some of you may already know from our previous community posts (here and here), the Issue Create (IC) team has been on a journey to modernize the Issue Create experience to make it Enterprise-ready in terms of performance, reliability, and scale. We have also taken this opportunity to make the IC experience more consistent with the rest of Jira (here). The journey has been long but the good news is that we are now seeing the fruits of this massive effort!
We would like to inform the community that we have successfully rolled out the experience to 100% of users last week and the overall results that we are seeing are very positive! Here are some key numbers:
3X improvement in performance for up to the 90th percentile of our users
92% of our users have chosen to remain on the new IC modal experience
86% of the issues created today via a modal are via the new IC modal experience
We’d also like to acknowledge that the rollout to 100% of users took longer than anticipated. This was due to a combination of internal capacity constraints, the discovery of customers issues during rollout, and covid related delays. The team would like to apologize for any inconvenience that this delay may have caused.
While the new experience is now available to 100% of our users, the new experience is still not yet available in 100% of all the UI trigger points in the Jira webapp. We are in the process of migrating these remaining trigger points and our current timeline to complete this migration is around May 2022 (tentative).
We are actively monitoring your feedback and the issues you are raising across different channels. We are working at capacity to solve them. You will find the updated list of issues that we are tracking here and we ask that you follow this ticket for the latest updates on the fixes related to the new Issue Create experience. If you do not find a mention of an issue that you are facing with the issue create modal on this list, please raise a ticket under the component ‘Issue - Create - Global’ and our team will look into it as soon as possible.
Lastly, the option to switch back to the old Issue Create modal has been available for our users since December 2021. The primary purpose was to give our users/customers time to ease into the new experience and to adapt their processes and documentation.
In this regard, we would like to inform you that the option to switch back to the old Issue Create experience will no longer be available for users starting June 2022. The transition will be gradual. We continue to urge our customers to make any necessary changes that they need to adapt to the new Issue Create experience as soon as possible.
With the Issue Create experience now modernized, you can now expect enhancements and new functionality related to creating tickets/issues in Jira Cloud to be delivered to you faster. There are already some new enhancements that are in progress and we will share more details at a later time.
Please note that these changes will not impact the full page issue create experience or the issue create ecosystem APIs. These experiences will remain as is. The team has plans in place to modernize these touchpoints in the future as well and we will share more details once they are available.
Thank you
The Issue Create Team
