Link Jira Notifications to Slack

What Do you Need?

  • An active Jira Cloud Instance, the URL should be something like this myjira.atlassian.net (tick)
  • An active Slack account . (tick)
  • Jira Cloud for Slack connector from the Atlassian Marketplace (tick)

Step-by-step guide

  1.  Login to your account on Slack.
  2. Login to your JIRA account as well and use the link  for Jira Cloud for Slack connector on Atlassian Marketplace and add the Integration.
  3. From your Slack workspace, call up the @Integration Team  bot by going to the Channel you want.
  4. The below message will appear

  6. Click invite them to join to begin the process
  7. Do a connect with the below command on Slack
  8. /jira connect <your-instance-name>.atlassian.net
  9.      It will request to verify your JIRA account
  10.      Click on the verify link to login to the Jira account required to confirm.
  11. If the connection exist, it should load up your Jira Integration and ask you to select the required Project then Add to the Channel on Slack.

  13. Once that is done, you can call up an issue by using the below command on the Slack Channel
  14. /jira connect, ISSUEKEY-123

  16. (tick) Result above confirms it has been successfully added, subsequent notifications should appear on Slack for issues or tickets created/commented on that Project.

 

  • Make sure to get the Integration from Atlassian Marketplace, one is available on : JIRA Cloud for Slack Connector (Official)
  • Also you can check out the Jira Cloud for Slack connector configuration on your JIRA Instance to configure what filters should send notifications to Slack Channel.
