How to fill in a request type when transit a ticket between project

Dor Ben Yehuda August 16, 2023

Hi,

Once we move a ticket from a project to mine, there is no possibility to choose a request type.

It's not possible later as well to update the request type

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Jira does not expect you to be moving issues, it's an exception to normal working practice, and the request type has nowhere to go if you move an issue from an ITSM project to a non-ITSM project.

Why are you moving issues?

We have different projects for different teams.

Let's say that someone opened a ticket for Engineering but then Engineering moved it to Analytics

Mistakes happen, but the question remains as to why you have set it up so that people create things in the wrong place.

It wasn't a mistake, it starts as an Eng issue got solve and now it's an analytical issue

But sounds like it's not possible (which is weird cause you can change the issue type)

Moving issues should never be part of a standard process, it's for housekeeping and mistakes only.  Moving an issue from a support (ITSM) project to a non-itsm project is always going to lose the request, non-ITSM projects don't have them.

Moving between projects is also minimal because it should not happen often.  If you move from one ITSM project to another, you can retain the request, but Jira will not ask you for a new type of request if the target project has the current request type.
