Hi,

I would like to ask if anyone find out how to export data from LIST in Project to Excel?

I have tried to investigate and I see only possibility to share the List through link or through SLACK, but no possibility to download into Excel.

I know you can export into Excel from Filters, but the request is exactly from LIST.

Is it even possible?

Thank you

So that we can make sure we are talking about the correct thing, could you share a screenshot of an example list you are referring to?

Taking the list directly from this view is not possible.  However, with a bit of work you can recreate the list from the "Advanced issue search" found in the "Filters" from the top navigation bar.

  1. Start an Advanced issue search
  2. Use the following query `project = $ProjectKey and resolution is empty`
  3. Above the search, "Save As" and provide this filter a name.  This step is important as it will allow you to set the fields you want exported for just this one view.
  4. On the Right side of the current table is the Columns drop down, select the fields you want exported
  5. Select Export at the top, and choose Export CSV (filter fields)

The above steps will make it possible for you to come back and re-export this whenever you want in the future.

You cannot export from the List view but you can copy the JQL and paste that into the Advanced issue search view and export. However an easier solution IMO is to use the official free excel extension that allow you to create a query directly in Excel.

Hey Jack,

I might be dumb, but how do you copy the JQL from List?

Thanks

Sorry @Jan Šimek , my mind went to the "issues" view. But I see you are referring to the JWM List view. If I am not mistaken the List view can be defined by the following query...

Project = abc and resolution is empty

Basically List view show all issues except those Done by default. However, you can alter the List view to include the done issues by selecting the More drop down. So I would say that you can define the query to be whatever you want. What exalt is your goal? What do you wish to do with the exported issues?

Well tbf I have no clue, what my Team wants to do with them, all I know is that they want to export the issues to excel from the List view. To be fair I would do it usually in Filters view and there is no issue. But the request is different. So we can say, that any issue which resolution is not DONE is viewed in List of issue if the filters are not set for DONE resolutioned issues as well, correct?

Correct. So what I would offer the team is to create a filter of "project = abc and resolution is EMPTY", save it and create a subscription to send to appropriate team members daily/weekly or whatever meets their requirements. They can export to excel as required. Also instruct them to add the Jira extension in Excel so they can run the filter on-demand.

So in other words, there is no current way how to extract the data directly from LIST, because in the list you have only overview based on a JIRA´s JQL filter?

Correct BUT as I stated and seconded by @Kristopher Perez , you can use Advanced search or better yet directly within Excel. The later is faster than any other method IMO.
