How can I create a dashboard from 2 Jira sites ?

Tal Stanek May 7, 2022

Hello there

We use 2 sites at work for Jira.

I want to create a dashboard that can present data from these 2 Jira sites.

Do you know how to do that ?

Thanks

Tal

Hi @Tal Stanek ,

If you are up for a commercial app, we provide a solution called Dashboard Hub for Jira. It allows you to create reporting dashboards with data from any number of Jira instances (or Confluence, Bitbucket... we provide integrations with 10 different products). And you can create secure links to share them with external stakeholders. You can see live examples here: Agile Team dashboard (see an example in the 3rd slide), DevOps dashboard , ITSM dashboard.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Tal Stanek

This is Majid @ Exalate.

You can get this (and more) done by syncing the two Jira instances into your reporting instance by using an issue synchronization app such as Exalate. This would give you the flexibility of having all the data to hand in one instance and the autonomy to not sync certain information. It should take less than 10 mins to setup a basic integration between two Jira instances and get you going!

Please feel free to book a demo if you would like to see the product in action.

Thanks

Hi @Tal Stanek

You can build such dashboards in the external tools, like Power BI  / Tableau / BigQuery etc.

In this case you'll be able to fetch data from both Jira instances and combine and transform it however you need. As @Mohamed Adel mentioned above, in this case you'll need the app such as Power BI Connector for Jira

You can use a free trial to take a look if this works for you. Good luck!

Hi there @Tal Stanek ! You can achieve this easily if you have the two Jira instances connected and the desired data synced between them. You can sync them with the system you're using for reporting and use their data for building dashboards.

No idea if you're using a tool to connect the Jira instances but take a look at ZigiOps. It's a flexible no-code tool that can help you integrate the systems in question in a few clicks (and transfer any data). Feel free to take a look at it and even book a demo to see it in action.

Hi @Tal Stanek ,

unfortunately, your request can't be handled without merging the two sites , each Jira site has it is own DB and configuration.

you can think about another solution to use a plugin like Power BI connector or similar to export the data from both sites and visualize it accordingly

I'm not certain about the cloud offering with this but with the server instance once I created application links across two Jira instances the gadgets on the dashboards gave me an internal and external option (not option there were two gadgets one listed as internal the other as external).  I could use those gadgets in a single dashboard building out exactly what you are asking for.  The only caveat was the users who access the dashboard require a license in both systems.

Hopefully someone from the cloud side can confirm, but I do believe your path is through Application Links.
