Gitlab connection security in Jira's free-plan

Dear All,

I am starting my research group and I decided to give Jira a try as online project management. Of course, in science we are not give a budget for these type of activities so I chose the free-plan.

I know now that the security is not ideal since everybody would have access to our plan. However, I want to connect our gitlab project to the jira project, but I am unsure what the level of security is there and I do not seem to find a understandable (or at all!) information about the security implications when extended to the gitlab.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am not really too literate on security issues but I was able to understand the warning that everyone in the internet can have access to my project, so if you can keep the answer at that level, I will really helpful ;-)

Thanks for your time! and have a great day!

Luisa
