question on project deletion

We use JIRA 5.1.6

Last night a project misteriously disappeared,...most likely deleted by a JIRA administrator by mistake.

We are in teh process of restoring from backup.

Is there anyway we can tell from the JIRA logs when this could have occurred?

No, it doesn't log this in your version.  If you have a web server (like apache) in front of it, then it will probably have recorded the delete url and possibly enough information to id the user.
