Hey guys im very new to reporting in jira have done a bit in service now but it seems very different
im looking to make a report that tracks how many initiatives (or any issue type) has moved status that month or week etc
any help it appreciated
Hi Max,
Do you have specific statuses in mind? For example, you can write a query like this:
Project = ABC and issuetype = Initiative and status changed to "In Progress" after startOfMonth()
This will show all Initiatives that changed to In Progress this month.
Hi @Max_Clark
if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to have a look at the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of so-called smart columns that aren’t natively available, including the time of transition from [status] to [status], the number of transitions from [status A] to [status B], and many more. Combined with JXL's advanced features such as support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting, you can build a view like e.g. this in just a couple of clicks:
This is really just one of a virtually endless number of possible views and reports; you can also view and group by any other issue fields, configure different sum-up styles, etc. etc.
Any questions just let me know,
Best,
Hannes

Hi @Max_Clark
Jira doesn't have a built-in solution for the report you mentioned. If you prefer using a marketplace app, you can try Status Time Reports app developed by our team. It mainly provides reports and gadgets based on how much time passed in each status.
Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app. To get a report of how many times the status of each issue is changed, you can have a look at Status Count And Entry Dates report. Entry date(see In Development, Ready for Testing, In Testing, In Development columns.) is status transition date and status count(see #In Development, #Ready for Testing, #In Testing, #In Development columns) is how many times an issue is entered to this status.
App Features:
For further details, you can have a look at Status Time Reports How to Videos.
If you are looking for a completely free solution, you can try the limited version Status Time Reports Free.
If you need any help, feel free to contact us via support@bloompeak.io or schedule a demo with us.
Hope it helps.

Hi @Max_Clark
As an alternative, if you are fine with another mktplace app, you can try out
One of the many reports the app has is the Issue Transition Count for a particular date range as shown below.
Do try it out.
Disclaimer : I work for RVS, the vendor for this app

Hi @Max_Clark
You can also export the report to an Excel or CSV file to count the number of issues that have changed status. Let me know if you have any questions.
