Workflow edit access within the project for non-global administrator

Shamin Nikita March 24, 2021

Hi!

Is it possible to grant rights for editing workflows/fields within the project for the project administrator?

The workflow scheme using by this project is simplified and it`s not applicable for any other projects.

Are you want to do it in classic or next-gen type of projects?

Hello @Shamin Nikita

Welcome to the community.

If you are using a Classic project, it is not possible to grant project admins access to modify the workflow or custom fields. This is permitted only for JIRA Admins.

Next Gen projects allow project owners to modify the workflow and custom fields, but those configurations become unique to just that Next Gen project. The custom fields are not available in other projects. In other Classic or Next Gen projects there may be custom fields with the same name, but in the JIRA backend they are considered different custom fields.

Next Gen and Classic project functionality is quite different. It might sound appealing to have the team use Next Gen because the project admin could modify the configuration, but you should review the functional differences before going that route.
