Why can't we seem to create any dashboard metrics around checklists?
Seems the only thing I find repeated by every addon is 'Checklists or Items Assigned to Me'
Why can't I build a JQL filter to show me other things and have a dashboard graph or chart to show the boss of my boss? They're always asking things like -
"How many <Checklist items> do we have in this Sprint?"
"How many are left to check?"
"When is that last time we used that <Checklist item> before?"
Hello @Bud Herz
Are you using a third party app to create these checklists?
Are these checklists that are contained within Jira issues?
If you are not using native Jira technology for the checklists and are instead using a third party app, then how would Jira be able to provide you natively with reporting capabilities? The third party app would need to provide that, I would think.
Seems like you are frequently my Jira savior! Yes I *just* learned it is a third party tool called "Issue Checklist Free"
Before I confirmed that I was searching today for apps and here in the community for a way to hopefully get more out of checklists in general. Almost all of them that ever mention a dashboard widget are all about the assignees to the items.
I'm just shocked it is apparently so limited.
Hello @Bud Herz
Jira JQL allows searching for issues only.
This limitation does not allow to build queries like "number of checklist items in a sprint".
However, you can search for "issues with a given number of unchecked items" for example https://herocoders.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IC/pages/774307870/Search+basic+including+JQL#Searchbasic(includingJQL)-Searchissuescontaininggivennumberofuncheckeditems
Every search for non-issue entities is only possible if app vendor delivers their own complete solution.
Also, out of your initial list, the following is kind of achievable: "How many are left to check?" - you can simply search for issues in a sprint/project with an unfinished checklist and display the Checklist Progress field on the search result list.
I understand your need for comprehensive information, though. The Issue Checklist team will consider working on it.
