Viewing only the top level tasks in a task view , with hierrachical display of subtasks

Is it possible to view only top level tasks in a projects ticket view, with the subtasks being displayed if you click on the parent disk.

I remember being able to do this at my last employer which used JIRA, but I was'nt responsible for setting it up. Also, I think they were using the GreenHopper plugin which may have been key.

The Greenhopper (now JIRA Agile) plugin would facilitate this on your boards, but alternatively you could restrict a search in issue navigator to epics and stories (or just not sub-tasks), and you should see the subtasks on the actual issue detail. Other than that, it's possible your previous employer had a standalone version of JIRA and a custom plugin that allowed for this as well.
