Currently On JIRA Server 8.13 but reviewing and planning for Cloud migration.  We have question about the user management in the cloud.

Our issue is that our customers have a project side view that links to our internal projects for that customer.   An each customer has different domains not only from our company from each other and some are even consultants to that customer.   So means we can have multiple domains in the customer that can access that customers project.

Our employees are are created using Active Directory linked into JIRA for their access.

For Customers to get access we go in and create the user manually in JIRA itself by entering their information and setting.  We then add this to a specific group that has access to the appropriate project for that customer.  All of this in JIRA Server is saved in the "Jira Internal Directory".    These customers only have access to specific projects to submit issues in JIRA Project.   They do not have access to our Service Desk or any projects beyond the one seet up for them.  See Below from just one user for one customer set up to a specific customer and access showing their Group, Application and where the source of the account is at.

We have been reading through the cloud information about Active Directory but everything seems to point to AD with Atlassian Access to sync our Company Directory of employees.

But nothing seems to be related to the type of users where we just create them manually and they are handled internally to JIRA.    Will we still be able to create and maintain users this way or is there a new method ?

Any links or sources of information will be greatly appreciated.

@Alex Cumberland

Yes,  you can still create customers manually in the cloud and manage them there. Here's some documentation about creating users in the cloud.

@Kian Stack Mumo Systems

Reading the documentation from the link and lots of good info

So they will have to create an Atlassian account to be able to log in ?   Currently there is no additional account that needs to be created with JIRA Server they just login.   What is the requirement for an Atlassian account?
