Is it possible to configure the Timeline to work based on End Date instead of Due Date?
Thanks
Hello Jonas,
Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
The option to choose custom date fields is only available in Plans (Advanced Roadmaps), a feature available only with Jira Premium and Enterprise subscriptions. These are useful if your timeline contains multiple projects or if you would like to create a timeline based on an existing board or filter.
For the timeline feature available in the project menu (Basic roadmaps):
If you’re using a Scrum Board:
You may configure the timeline under board settings and choose if the schedule bars of child-level issues show on the timeline based on their sprint dates or based on the Start date and due dates. These are the system fields, and we don’t have a way to choose custom fields here.
To change this, go to your board and navigate to Board Settings > Timeline. Here, you can choose among the two options:
If you’re using a Kanban board:
You may enable the scheduling of child-level issues to show the schedule bars for base-level work, such as tasks or bugs on your timeline. These schedule bars are also based on the Start and Due dates. This is available under Board Settings > Timeline (same as the Scrum board).
For Plans (Advanced Roadmaps):
If you have a Premium subscription, you may create a new Plan where you can choose which date fields should be considered to show the schedule bars on your timeline.
To modify this, navigate to Plan Settings > Scheduling. Here, you may select any of the available date picker custom fields. You may also specify if you’d like to use sprint dates or release dates when issues don’t have the start and end dates set.
I found this @Karan Sachdev and would like to do something similar but ran into a problem following these instructions. I have selected the relevant date picker custom fields under Source Data > Custom Fields but can't find them in the "scheduling" view dropdown list as you have shown in your screenshot. Is there anything more I need to do. I see many other options for other plans at my company so I'm confident it's possible and I'm just missing a step somewhere.

I've tried following this link to see if there's more I need to do. Unfortunately I only get an infinite load screen which eventually defaults to this error message.
