Sprints are showing up on different projects?

Jason North February 3, 2015

BACKGROUND

We have two projects running concurrently and we like to give each sprint a unique name.  For example:

PROJECT A

  • Sprint 1 - Things
  • Sprint 2 - Widgets

PROJECT B

  • Sprint 1 - Gadgets
  • Sprint 2 - Wizbang

PROBLEM

We are finding that Sprints are accessible on every project, so now we are seeing weird things like:

PROJECT A

  • Sprint 1 - Things
  • Sprint 1 - Gadgets
  • Sprint 2 - Wizbang

RESOLUTION

Is there a way to have unique Sprint Names on PROJECT A, that are NOT even an option to choose on PROJECT B?  This would be our preference, so each project has it's own Sprint Titles.

Alternatively, if that is not doable... any suggestions on how else to achieve this?  Are we using JIRA wrong?

Thanks in advance for anyone's insights.

Sprints do not belong to projects, they belong to scrum boards.  To avoid seeing sprints like this, you need to make sure none of your scrum boards cross the projects you are seeing the extra sprints in.
