Service Desk - (Collaborator) licenses & installation

G'day All,

I am looking at setting up Jira Service Desk with 3 agents and some Collaborators.

Out of all the Jira products available, which can be used along side S.D with its users as Collaborators?

Also, I just read that someone stated you have to have Jira Core to run Jira S.D - Are you able to confirm if that is a requirement?

When I do start installing Jira products, is there a preferred order of the products?

Hi Adam,

JIRA Core is installed along side JSD.

Collaborators are users that have access to JIRA Software or JIRA Core but not an agent on Service Desk.

I don't think the order when you install products matters.

In order to add collaborators to Service Desk, those users need to be licensed as either Jira Core users or Jira Software users.   Which means you would need to have either a Core or Software license also applied to the same installation of Jira.

It doesn't really matter which one you choose in terms of granting these users access to collaborate with Service Desk issues.  Those users have more access to Jira than users in the Jira Service Desk customer role that are only expected to be able to access the customer portal.

It might help to review JIRA Software Vs JIRA Core : License as well as Setting up service desk users.
